چکیده

We simulate the dynamic and temperature depen dent behavior of two di erent Micro Electro Mechanical Systems MEMS by utilizing recently developed par allel codes which enable a coupling of length scales The novel techniques used in this simulation accurately model the behavior of the mechanical components of MEMS down to the atomic scale by combining the power of an atomistic simulation with the e ciency of nite elements This work studies the dynamics of a sil icon micro gear train and the vibrational behavior of a micron scale quartz oscillator The work provides a new paradigm for device design and prediction and for the relevance of atomistic simulation

Coupling of Length Scales and Atomistic Simulation of MEMS Resonators

We present simulations of the dynamic and temperature dependent behavior of Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) by utilizing recently developed parallel codes which enable a coupling of length scales. The novel techniques used in this simulation accurately model the behavior of the mechanical components of MEMS down to the atomic scale. We study the vibrational behavior of one class of MEMS...

Coarse-Grained Molecular Dynamics and Multiscale Modeling of NEMS Resonators

We review concurrent multiscale simulations of dynamic and temperature-dependent processes found in nanomechanical systems coupled to larger scale surroundings. We focus on the behavior of sub-micron MicroElectro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS), especially microresonators. These systems are often called NEMS, for Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems. The coupling of length scales methodology we have devel...

Spanning the Length Scales in Dynamic Simulation

couple different length and time scales in serial fashion. By this we mean that one set of calculations at a fundamental level, and of high computational complexity, is used to evaluate constants for use in a more approximate or phenomenological computational methodology at longer length or time scales. In pioneering work of this sort in the 1980s, Clementi and coworkers1 used high-quality quan...

Effects of different atomistic water models on the velocity profile and density number of Poiseuille flow in a nano-channel: Molecular Dynamic Simulation

In the current study, five different atomistic water models (AWMs) are implemented, In order to investigate the impact of AWMs treatment on the water velocity profile and density number. For this purpose, Molecular dynamics simulation (MDS) of Poiseuille flow in a nano-channel is conducted. Considered AWMs are SPC/E, TIP3P, TIP4P, TIP4PFQ and TIP5P. To assessment of the ability of each model in...
